"Growing up in the inner city helped shape my determination to break the cycle," says Darlene Willis. So in 2003, she founded College Bound San Diego, an organization that helps African-American students prepare for college through tutoring, community service, campus tours and seminars. "The goal is to empower students and parents, and have them take charge of the educational journey," Darlene says.
