In January 2007, Maybelline New York and MTV teamed up to create the Born To Achieve: Empowerment Through Education contest. After reading nearly 3,000 essays from talented young women, Maybelline New York and MTV named Andrea Wise the winner. She was flown to New York City to appear on MTV's TRL @ Your School Week to accept the grand prize–a $25,000 scholarship.

Andrea is a natural leader chosen for her extraordinary efforts in education. She stands out as a role model, inspiration and eager student in her school and community. Currently a high school senior, Andrea will put her scholarship to work next year, realizing her dream of attending college. She plans to study International Relations with a minor in Ethnic Studies with the ultimate goal of becoming a broadcast journalist. We know Andrea Wise will continue to inspire through education because she was truly Born To Achieve.
