GET GORGEOUS. GET EVEN.

Save the pancake for breakfast. Face makeup that covers like a mask is a look that’s long past. Other women may still go undercover, but you have nothing to hide. Make foundation work for you by using it to smooth out your skin tone. To get nice and even, dab it on where you need it and blend or apply all over for a flawless finish. Now show us some skin!

HOW TO CHOOSE

Think about the following factors when selecting the foundation that’s right for you.

  • Skin type: Use a foundation that works with your skin type. See All About Face Products for some helpful hints.
  • Coverage level: Decide on the amount of coverage you want. Light coverage is generally see-through. Medium coverage has more texture to even out your complexion. Full coverage completely masks imperfections. Use cream, mousse or long-wearing foundations for heavier coverage. Instant Age Rewind, Dream Matte Mousse and Superstay Silky are good choices. Some liquid foundations, like Pure.Makeup, can offer lighter coverage.
  • Finish: Pick the finish you desire. Natural finish foundations, like Superstay Silky give you a healthy glow and make you look like you're not wearing any makeup. Matte finish foundations with medium to full coverage, like Dream Matte Mousse and Pure Stay Powder Foundation, help you look shine- and shimmer-free. A radiant finish has shimmer effects. The micro-pearls in Instant Age Rewind, for instance, reflect light to help reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Form: Liquid foundations offer light to medium coverage. The liquid formula you choose may determine the finish. Moisturizing foundations for dry skin usually provide a satin finish. Oil-free formulas for oily skin typically offer a matte finish. Cream foundations offer light to medium coverage, are slightly heavier than a liquid and are great for dry skin. While you should typically avoid using creams if you have oily or combination skin, our exclusive mousse foundation is a variation of cream foundation with an incredible air-whipped texture suitable for all skin types. Coverage varies for powder foundations. Powders are great for combination skin, but should be avoided by those with excessively dry skin.
  • Benefits: Foundations are specifically designed to address your skin needs. Basic or natural coverage foundations like Dream Matte Mousse are great for normal/sensitive skin and usually deliver a matte-perfect finish. Pure.Makeup made with 50% water instead of pore-clogging oil, helps control shine for oily/combination complexions. Instant Age Rewind is perfect for aging and dry skin. For all skin types, long-wearing Superstay Silky provides moisturization and eliminates the need for touch-ups.

HOW TO FIND MY SHADE

Your perfect shade is the single most important consideration in choosing foundation. But we’ve made it simple with the Easy Shade Finder, which you’ll find in stores, and with My Color Advisor. Here’s the general idea: First determine if your skin tone is light, medium or dark. Next, select two or three shades that appear to be a good fit with your skin tone. A foundation shade may appear darker or lighter in the bottle, so match the shade to your skin using the Easy Shade Finder or the shade swatch on the package. Hold the shade up to your jaw line, not the back of your hand (which is usually darker than the skin on your face). Your perfect shade will always match your skin tone.

HOW TO USE

Here’s how you use foundation products. We’ll use Dream Matte Mousse as an example. Its light-as-air formula blends easily for flawless coverage.

MOISTURIZE
Before applying foundation, moisturize your skin as usual. Wait a few minutes to let your moisturizer dry.

THINK ABOUT YOUR DESIRED RESULT
For casual wear, apply spot coverage to even out problem areas (under eyes, on sides of nose, on chin, etc.). Or go formal with flawless, even, allover coverage.

APPLY
Gently sweep mousse with your ring finger, using just a small amount. You can always layer more on later. Focus on perfecting the tone and coverage at the center of your face first. Dot small amounts of foundation on your forehead, nose, cheeks and chin and blend outwards

BLEND
Pat the foundation into your skin with the pad of your ring finger and press gently with light, feathery downward strokes until it is well blended.

To apply with a brush:
You can also use the Expert Tools Face Brush to apply Dream Matte Mousse. Brush on with light, feathery downward strokes and blend.
