HOW TO DO A SMOKEY EYE

BLACK SMOKEY EYE TUTORIAL
That smoke! That smolder! That sex-appeal! When you want to look hot, nothing does the trick like a classic smokey eye. Too messy, too complicated you say? Not the way we do it. All you need is long-lasting, inky-black pencil eyeliner for a look that stays put and won't let you down.
  1. HOW TO DO A SMOKEY EYE STEP 1: LINE EYES

Using a smokey gel pencil eyeliner, draw a clean, smooth line across your upper eyelid, keeping color as close to the lash line as possible.

  2. HOW TO DO A SMOKEY EYE STEP 2: BLEND EYELINER

Time to smoke it out! Using the sponge-tip blender at the end of the eyeliner pencil, softly blur the line, gently diffusing color up, out and all over the eyelid.

  3. HOW TO DO A SMOKEY EYE STEP 3: SET EYELINER

Here's the important part: lock it in! Keep lid closed and let the eye color set for a minute. After it has set, add a touch of mascara, a little bit of lip, and you're finished!

WHAT YOU NEED TO MASTER SMOKEY EYE MAKEUP

To become the ultimate smokeshow, you need a few things. First, a concealer to prime and smooth your lids before applying your look. You can't go wrong with our full-coverage, long lasting concealer. Next up: an eyeshadow or eyeliner for color. If you're using an eyeliner, our smudgeable gel pencil eyeliner is key. If you prefer eyeshadow, any of our gel pots, pressed powders, or cream-to-powder formats will work. And don't be afraid to reach for those rich hues—a smokey eye doesn't have to be black! Not sure what shades to choose? Our eyeshadow palettes have coordinating shades that will work together for a smoldering smokey eye.
