As any makeup artist will tell you, the secret to good-looking eyeshadow is all in the blending. But do you know how to blend eyeshadow like a pro? Here, Maybelline makeup artist Erin Parsons breaks down how to do eyeshadow to create a super-special three-dimensional eye look that combines a diffused wash of bright color with plenty of glimmering shine.
Watch our Global Makeup Artist Erin Parsons blend three shades of shadow to create a colorful eye makeup look.
Take a richly colored eyeshadow pen and tap the sponge tip applicator, already loaded with color, onto eyelids. Use your finger or a clean, dry eyeshadow brush to blend color deeper into lids, fading it to a wash. Color should be richer along the lash line, fading out into a sheer, seamless veil right above the crease.
Now that you're all blended and faded to perfection, take that same eyeshadow shade and add another layer of it just in the inner and outer corners of eyes. Blend and soften the edges with an eyeshadow brush.
Time to layer on some shimmer! Use a copper eyeshadow shade, and apply it on the middle of eyelids, blending in gently with your finger.
For extra gleam, add a pop of gold eyeshadow right in the center of eyelids, and inner corners of the eye.
Line the lower lash line with the same copper eyeshadow shade. Finish with 2-3 coats of The Falsies Lash Lift Mascara on top and bottom lashes.
