Horrible. Waste of money!

Most of this pencil went into the sharpener! I think I got to use it maybe twice! Otherwise, you just sharpen it and then the plastic stabs you in the eye so that you have to keep sharpening it until it just disappears into the sharp sharpener! It’s a waste of money I would never ever buy again.
Also, thank you for stabbing me in the eyelid!

A Rip Off - Shame on you, Maybelline

Deceptive packaging. Do not buy. Little tiny nub at end of plastic pencil is all useable product there is. VERY disappointed in Maybeline. Thought Maybelline had higher ethics than to knowingly deceive customers. I now will question all products from Maybelline. Sad because I once was a decades long customer but will be no more.

This would be the perfect eyeliner except it flakes if you try to fix it after it’s already been on for a few minutes it flakes, but I love how dark it is and how easy it is to put on, but if you leave the cap off overnight by accident, it dries it out and you can’t put it on

Put it on and didn’t feel weird till the 3rd hour of me wearing iy but i it progressively got worse took it off immediately when i got home the 5th hour after wear eyes were red and swollen. Then i couldn’t sleep the entire night because my eyes were throbbing and swollen but got worse when i woke up my eyes were crusted shut and red.

Ngl, this liner sucks. You have to sharpen it EVERY time, because unless it's "fresh," it's hard to apply. That means you get very little use out of it for a "pricier" product. I won't be purchasing it again.

The pigment and the color is more than 2 stars? However, you can't sharpen the darn thing. And it'll sharpen on all sides, but one, so you end up scraping your eye on the sharp poi t that doesn't sharpen. So, then I ended up just sharpening a good full couple turns but it ended up eating the pencil and it fell out of the middle so not worth the $11.I paid for it for sure

I purchased the Aurora Flip color, which I love...however... this pencil is hard to sharpen . If you use it, the gel does last a long time. But it seems to dry out somewhat in the pencil. I would NOT purchase another one. In general,I have loved and depended on Maybelline over the years, but this design is a dud,imo.

Doesn't twist to sharpen? too hard to use.

DO NOT BUY. You'd think this pencil would twist to give you more pencil, but you have to take the back cap off and shove something down the back end of it? Obviously not intuitive. I had to google how to get more pencil out of this. It's a bummer because it's a great product but you can't easily use it so if you're like me it'll get thrown in a drawer and forgotten. Absolutely asinine design.

They sent me a neon green one try and where I didnt put it on my face, its been on my arm for 3 days now. I did keep the area out of water but for this design to still be on my arm? Im impressed. I wish they sent anything but neon green 💚 but I guess when we are giving them away for reviews we give what the most stock at hand is in. I gey why neon green wouldn't be the most popular color lol. Either way, it works, its strong 💪.

Gentle, easy to use

I purchased from Target/ulta. While it technically sharpens easily, it doesn’t sharpen evenly. It gives many of the same issues most pencil liners give, though I go appreciate the lack of splinters or wood just stabbing me in the eye. I’m sure most of us can relate to the wood smear with eyeliner. I love that it smudges out easily for a smoked eye or any liner look, really. I have low vision so it makes doing my liner a breeze. It does NOT have staying power, but it’s great for the price. I set it with setting powder, eyeshadow, AND setting spray to keep it in place. Otherwise, it will randomly just have me looking like a panda.i do love that it hasn’t dried out like most gel liners do. And it doesn’t bother my eyes or skin even though i have sensitive skin.

Total waste of money. It says you can sharpen it. However, if you can’t get it the base to turn, which pushes up additional gel what good is it? It took two pliers to get it to turn and when it did turn, still nothing came up. I had to completely remove the end cap and use a long end of a Q-tip just to push the gel up in order to use it. I say again, total waste of money. JUNK!!!

The initial application was the best. Very precise and clean. Once you get it going, it gets fat and dull.
The worst part is trying and failing to sharpen THE PLASTIC! Like what?!?
Once you get to that point its super fun and tricky trying to avoid cutting your eyelid on the SHARP PLASTIC EDGES of the pencil. It does last tho! Stays on very well. Alot of wasted product just to get the pencil to be sharp and fine.

Tattoo Liner and a Funeral

I wore Tattoo black liner to a dear cousin funeral and after “hours of tears” and “church tissue” wiping, I left the areas for the ladies room. I was shocked to see my liner was not affected with smudging or raccoon face. My eye liner was melted on my eyeline and not my face. My tear shape eyes were pink from tears but met with black-lined in-placed perfection and shape. I was sad and happy my liner did not fell me and came through for me! Thank you Maybelline. You rock! I loved the color of the Tattoo Studio Hunter Green. Exactly what I am looking for!
Goes on nicely and smooth. It says it is sharpenable, but when I tried to use a small sharpener - it ruined the gel liner! I went online and did not find any suggestion for the type of sharpener to use. Otherwise I would gladly give it more stars.

Horrible sharpener

I’ve tried for one hour to sharpen my gel pencil. It’s a mess with no relief in sight. It took a video to get to the sharpener. I hate this product. I liked it before I tried to sharpen it.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Hi there. Despite the plastic-coated appearance of this product, it can be sharpened with our Tattoo Studio Sharpenable Gel Pencil Longwear Eyeliner Makeup. This pencil does not swivel. To properly use this product, turn the pencil gently in the sharpener 3 or 4 times, being careful not to apply excess pressure. After sharpening, remove all shavings from the blade edge. The pencil should be sharpened frequently so that 3 or 4 gentle turns are sufficient to achieve the desired result. The TattooStudio Tattoo Brow Up To 36HR Waterproof Brow Pencil should be replaced whenever the blade has dulled and is no longer giving the expected results. Worst Eyeliner Ever

This is the worst eyeliner I have ever had. The pencil dries out after every use, and you need to resharpen it each time. And even then, it could still be dried out. It is very difficult to apply, you have to push really hard, and then it clumps into your eyelashes. Will never ever buy this eyeliner again. So frustrated.

DO NOT BUY - this is a 1-time use item

I'd give negative stars if I could. I am so disappointed (angry, really). No instructions provided. So, I reached out to support and was advised to sharpen the *PLASTIC* pencil. FYI - the plastic is NOT able to be sharpened. Essentially, this cost me $10 for a one-time use product. And, because I opened the package, I can't return it. I can't believe I've wasted $10 on this.

absolutely awful, i spent $8 to use it one time before i couldnt. sharpening didnt do anything at all, literally do not buy this. the makeup itself is awesome though.

Dispenser doesn't advance by twisting.

Like others, I was disappointed that you can't advance the gel pencil WITHOUT a cosmetic sharpener!
The package should say MUST use a cosmetic sharpener. I haven't bought one yet ...I used to use regular pencil sharpeners on old style Maybelline eye sticks encased in wood. Still confused how a plastic stick dispenser is sharpenable!

Q: Is there a way to sharpen this pencil? I bought the Tattoo Studio gel eyeliner pencil and there’s no possible way to sharper or make the eyeliner “longer”. And unfortunately I stubbed the tip of the eyeliner so now I can’t use it. Any suggestions?

Q: How do I push the pencil? I have the white one and it’s already almost gone and was wondering if there’s a twist mechanism to get more product out? Kinda like traditional eye pencil where the whole pencil is the product

Q: How do you extend the liner or increase it after some is used or how can it be pushed up? It seems odd that you would only have the small tip to use. How does the sharpener work when you can't move the liner upward? Thank you.

Q: Why are you still using pencils that require sharpening? They are horrible and waste product, plus when you are trying to get everything out of it that you can eyelids end up getting scratched with the sharp edge. Good liner though
