Love it - but it is NOT sharpenable. Use and toss

I love this gel liner (deep onyx). Goes on smoothly and color is great. It says that it is 'sharpenable.' But how? There is no way to insert into an external device and there is no way to push up the gel stick. Not worth it. If I missed something, please tell me.

To clarify, the Tattoo Studio Automatic Gel Pencil is designed with a convenient twist-up mechanism; simply rotate the bottom of the pencil to dispense more of the gel stick. While the pencil itself is automatic and does not require a traditional sharpener, it does feature a built-in sharpener at the opposite end to help you maintain a precise, pointed tip for your signature look. Just pull off the end cap to reveal it! We hope this helps you continue to enjoy your long-lasting, waterproof liner.

This liner is a LIFESAVER!!! i have had a scar on the back of my head since I was 12. I had brain surgery and have always loved short hair styles but could never wear them because my scar showed. This actully covers the scar and LASTS all day. I can now have a hair style I have always wanted thanks to YOU!!!!!

Dried up, won't glide

Was very happy with this eyeliner, went ahead and bought another one. The brand new one was dried out and it won't even glide to use. Tried using it on my hand and on my makeup bag, still nothing. Can't believe I just wasted so much money on an eyeliner you can't even use properly

Buyer beware!

After the initial liner is used down to the pencil casing, there is absolutely no way to move the remaining product into place so you can use it. It is poorly designed and you have litterly thrown your money away if you purchase it again.

Hi there! Thank you for giving our Tattoo® Studio Smokey Gel Pencil a try. Despite the plastic-coated appearance it can be sharpened with a cosmetic sharpener. Our Expert Tools Dual Sharpener would be a great product to use. For best results, turn the pencil gently in the sharpener 3 or 4 times, being careful not to apply excess pressure. After sharpening, remove all shavings from the blade edge. Your sharpener should be replaced whenever the blade has dulled and is no longer giving the expected results. We hope this information helps!

I used Maybelline eye pencil for years because I have sensitive eyes in terms of allergy and it was one of the best. They discontinued the wooden pencil so I bought this. I had a reaction to it, my eyes became watery unfortunately. Please bring back the classic wooden pencil.

Tattoo Studio Pencil- Would NOT purchase again!

Initially I loved the product and application. However, when I went to sharpen the pencil, it broke off and the pencil was IMPOSSIBLE to sharpen. I even bought a double pack and it happened to the second pencil as well. I have a very good sharpener so that is not the issue. Very disappointed and will never purchase again. Do not waste your money.

Was excited to find the Tattoo Studio Gel Liner on sale, so I bought 2. Good thing I did because the first one went so fast, I barely got 5 uses from it. Its terrible that it can not be advanced or sharpened. I will not buy again and advise those close to me.... don't bother!

I bought the Tattoo Studio Smokey eyeliner. I love how easy it is to use. It’s a nice color and it stays on. My issue is that I had a sensitivity to it. It made my eyes foggy and they were watering a bit. I had to stop using this eyeliner.

Eyeliner goes on great, but the little tip of gel runs out way too fast. The tip does not extend past what you see when it's brand new. Waste of time trying to find the perfect liner and waste of money as well.

Might as well add another - I bought this and used it a couple times. Went to advance the pencil and it wouldn’t move. I thought I got a defective one, so, silly me, I bought another! Never again! How can you in good faith sell a product is in bad packaging. Too bad, because I did like how the eyeliner gel worked. Also, I spent close to $20 on them! I could have gotten a “designer” eyeliner for almost that much! Shame on you all for fooling your potential customers.

Love application but 3 apps is all you get!

This pencil does not sharpen/advance or push or twist or allow a traditional sharpen. I have even popped off the base "twist" to find that it does not actually touch the pencil itself nor does twisting it twist the pencil out. Basically you'll get about 3 applications if you're lucky (barely) and then you'll have a $7 piece of pencil inside a plastic "pencil holder" that won't twist or advance or screw or do anything to advance the pencil inside out for use. And don't know about you but I have to work, can't spend an hour on the phone with some makeup customer service person trying to convince me I didn't pay 7 for 3 applications on a faulty pencil that obviously everyone is having issues with not just me.

Read for yourself:
- Every customer: It won’t twist. Use once = waste of $7
- Every response: It twists. Call our call centre, because, you know, that’s how you want to spend your life.
- Every international customer: $7? You guys are laughing! $10+ for us. And call a call centre? With a US number? In US office hours only? In 2023?
Hundreds fo customers provide ing feedback which is being ignored. There are multiple HBR case studies here.

Bought the MAYBELLINE NY TATTOO STUDIO Smokey Gel Eyeliner. I CAN'T TWIST IT TO GET MORE OF THE LINER! Don't understand why there isn't more product for the cost!
Hopefully you can help since eyes are VERY SENSITIVE to other brands of eyeliners after chemo treatments.

Disappointed-Could not advance the gel

Loved the performance of this liner and how long it last, but when it came time to advance, it would not move. Too bad as I have only had it for a couple of weeks and now have to buy more. Hesitant to buy it again for fear of same issue. I am a long time user of the brand especially the velvet black pencil, but it's always out of stock so decided to try the gel.

Completely Disappointing

Wish I would have read the reviews before wasting my money on this eyeliner. Sure, it's decent at best when it works but it runs out so quickly and there's no way to twist it to sharpen it or have more of the point come out. I bought a pack of 2 and the first one, as soon as I opened the cap, the pencil point flew off and it was completely unusable, nothing was left. So I was immediately down to one. I was much more careful every time I opened the second one, but I cannot believe how fast it ran out. Such a waste of my money. Save yourself the money and frustration, buy a different brand product.

My products have always twisted and worked great!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this eyeliner. It doesn’t make my makeup look too dark. And gives me that cat eye look that is easy to blend. I looooove it so much! I hope they never discontinue!

All the reviews mention the same issue. Fix the issue - or don’t sell the product. Can’t advance the liner. Shouldn’t be that hard to twist and advance the liner for continued use. I’ve never had this much trouble trying to utilize a product that I’ve purchased. Will not buy again.

It won’t twist up, can only use it once or twice. I see all the negative reviews here now, saying that it’s a problem and Maybelline has done nothing to fix this! Just keeps selling it! Lost my trust and my business

Q: I am having the same trouble with my gel liner in that it will not advance after twisting, etc. I really love this eyeliner and want it to work. Used to use Cover Girl but your eyeliner is so much better.
