Not as good anymore

I have been wearing Super Stay Matte for years. Also recommended it to a few others. Well, something in the formula has changed and it is no longer a favorite. My application is the same as it always has been and it doesn’t work as well. It does not last as long and is all over my straws and cups. Very disappointing.

My absolute favorite. The amount in the tube lasts forever, the color is vibrant, and I can kiss my husband and kids without staining them, and i can wear it all day without worrying about carrying it with me for rouch ups. My only complaint.. There's no purple hues, my husband and I are doing a vow renewal this year and ive been looking for a soft lavender or lilac that I can wear for it, all the other products ive tried are gone before I even leave the house.

I have been wearing the Super Stay Matte Ink liquid lipstick for over 12 years. Initially, it would stay on without smudges after eating and drinking. Lately, since the "new look" I have noticed that if I eat or drink it is starting to wear off. Its almost like wearing regular lipstick. The reason I kept buying this product is that it never smudged. or wore off your lips, always looked great. Not sure if I will keeping buying this product.

Frustrated by color discontinuation

I have been a huge fan of the Superstay Matte Ink line for several years. I’m extremely dissatisfied that my two signature colors were discontinued. The most recent was Believer #40 and there is nothing that compares. Please stop discontinuing colors without providing a viable new alternative.

Beautiful color and definitely long wear. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to take off - I had to use Vaseline to help remove it. The worse part, I had an allergic reaction to the lipstick and was prescribed an ointment for 7 day use, twice a day. Over two weeks, my lips were swollen, burning, excessively dry, and now I have dark spots.

Need better formula, beautiful red.

I have this lipstick in #20 Pioneer. I bought it at Dollar General at the end of 2024. Hopefully the formula has been updated or tweaked. This is a beautiful deep red. It does not feather and it does stay on very well. It lasts for hours. Now, when I eat anything saucy or greasy, it will wipe off on the napkin, it does not come off while sipping drinks or transfer when I kiss my BF. My complaint- it dries my lips right out, it begins to kind of peel off the center of my lips and build up around the edges of my lips, to the point of having to wash it off agressively and re apply. This is a big downer. I have finally tossed it out. I wish it didn't do that.

Color wasn’t what was expected…? (Mislabeled?)

So I bought the super stay matte liquid lipstick from a beauty retailer, I brought home the shade ruler. At least, I think I did… in the swatch picture on the maybelline website, it looks like the perfect pinky nude shade, but the one I brought home was a really deep, dark wine red… was it perhaps mislabeled? The packaging doesn’t match the picture either, mine is more dark and warm. I think I might have gotten the shade charmer instead labeled as ruler.
Review: Wear test was pretty good, it is quite sticky feeling however, and I saw some peeling and bare spots on the inside of my lips whenever I ate or drank. Dried down pretty quickly, within five minutes, color is super pigmented! With it being matte, it does bring out the lobes in your lips, but I personally don’t mind it.
Overall, this is an awesome and affordable liquid lipstick to use everyday or on special occasions.

There is nothing more confusing than expecting a "perfect pinky nude" like Ruler and ending up with a "deep wine red"—it definitely sounds like you might have a case of a New York "shade swap" or a mislabeled tube, especially if the packaging doesn't match the site! While the mystery color sounds stunning, we want you to get exactly what you’re looking for. It’s awesome that you loved that intense pigment and the quick five-minute dry down, but we hear you on that sticky feel and the "inner lip" peeling—when you’re out on the town, you need a formula that can handle a snack without leaving bare spots!

It does stay on and is a good product, but it doesn’t smell good. Because of this, I probably won’t end up using it and definitely won’t buy again. Why does there have to be fragrance in lip color?

Love the staying power of this product! Maybelline Super Stay Matte is exactly that! When I apply this product mostly by applicator to define the outline of my lips, then use color stay lipstick to fill in at 9 am, the color stays true through my entire work shift. I do drink water and snack but the color does not transfer to my straw or fade away. My lips look the same all day!

If you like sticky, dry lips, this is for you. Lips felt tacky and shriveled with this on, and it does not stay in place completely. Like creamy lips? I tried applying a gloss on top and it did nothing to improve texture.

I received this a sample, it was not in exchange for a review at all but I wanted to give some time before I wrote the review to see how it wears. I love the formula! It IS sticky like a liquid lipstick but it has immaculate staying power. It also does peel like a liquid lipstick does, and I noticed it also doesn’t cling to dry dead skin on your lips.

I have four shades of this liquid lipstick and I can guarantee 100% it does not last on my lips. It’s gone in less than an hour. I’ve tried numerous brands, such as Dior, Maybelline (all types). L’Oréal, among many other name brands.

I love this lipstick !! For over a decade i have used faithfully. I live the apply once stay all day power. If ever it dont. "" Well"" it was a dish worth it. But quickly reapplied. I use a natual anude brown , 2 bright reds and one dark brown i am not brave enough for the black yet. I promised myself i would try this year i will try. I am awaiting a beautiful cranberrie. Q: Is there a dry time on this before it becomes non transferable? I had this on for a little while and it still transferred when I tested on my finger.

- A: I find that some colors will stay tacky longer. While it doesn't feel tacky Seductress transfers to my straw but it still lasts all day. Amazonian does not transfer. For all colors, if you apply a thin layer and wait about two minutes before you close your mouth, it will dry. Worst case scenario, blot with a tissue before applying another layer or moving on with your day. I've been using this formula for the past 4 years and it stays all day and evening.11 months agoHelpful?
