Looking for a fresh, new eyeliner look? We've got just the thing. Here, makeup artist Amrita Mehta show us how to nail this ultra-graphic bat wing eyeliner look. Cool and surprisingly simple, it flatters all kinds of eye shapes, especially hooded eyes, and looks like a classic cat eye, only turned up to 11. Here's how to get it.
Watch Amrita create the trending bat wing liner look in 6 simple steps!
Create a smooth, even skin tone on the eyelid with a full coverage, long wear concealer. Blend it all over the lid, and up to the brow.
Set the concealer with a loose setting powder. Choose a shade that closely matches your skin tone or a translucent powder. Amrita uses banana powder!
Using a black eyeliner pencil, draw a wing from the outer corner of your eye out and up towards the outer eyebrow. The best way to do this is look straight ahead and keep both eyes open as you draw the line. It’s okay if it's not perfect right now!
Now using that same pencil, line the upper lash line, connecting it to your outer wing. Smooth out the pencil lines with an angled shadow brush for a seamless, even line.
Create an angled point by drawing a line from the tip of the outer wing in towards the eye crease and fill in the “point”. Use and angled brush to refine the shape.
Now, add a little more impact by tracing over your bat wing with a black liquid liner for even more inky richness and staying power. A look this graphic demands plenty of rich, black mascara, so pile it on!
Pro Tip: Amrita applies the eyeliner before any other makeup, including foundation. This ensures a smudge-free, beautifully balanced overall effect.
