This stuff is a mess!

I got this in the ebony black and while I will say it does have good pigment and glide, those are the only good things about it. This stuff is awful!!! Never have I had a non-liquid eyeliner smear and run as much as this stuff. It didn't even make it an hour. All day long I was constantly having to fix under my eyes and wipe away the raccoon look...I didn't even apply it to my lower lash line! More than once I had a coworker ask if I had been crying and rubbing my eyes, that's how messy this stuff was. I'm not sure how this is still being sold, but you need to fix the formula or discontinue it because this eyeliner is terrible. Waste of money, I've used cheaper that behaved better. If you're looking for a good liner this ain't it.

Simply the Best eyeliner. I have ALWAYS used this one, since my teens; I make up every single day. I was going to contact maybelle to complain that there does not seem to be as much product in a stick; I am going through a brownish/black in weeks! I admit I was upset. I had never visited your website, however. I have taken a step back. Your commitment to mental health in girls and women is commendable! Certainly body image and beauty perception looms largest in preteen life; and social media is not helpful. I would honestly suggest you address this issue in your advertising; one life would be worth the price. So, instead of crabbing at the diminished quantity of eyeliner in each stick, I applaud your focus on the total girl/young woman. I will visit your website frequently after this and maybe get out of my comfort zone and try a new look some day. Regardless, the Brownish/Black eyeliner is THE BEST PRODUCT, PERIOD. I have always used the product, I will always use it And your website is socially responsible, attractive, and informative. Congratulations. Well done.

I've used this product for years now. Even my daughter who buys very expensive makeup borrowed mine and then took it for herself. So many liners just put hardly any product on your skin and some you have to press hard to get it to even show up. This one is great!!

Best Eyeliner Ever

I LOVE this eyeliner and have been using the brown black for years. I don't know how other people wear their eyeliner, but I've always lined my upper lashes only and never had a problem with it for everyday use. Love that's is smudgy enough to fill in my lashes to give a fuller look without looking obvious. The few times I have lined my lower lids, this does go on lightly and smudges, but you can go over it again to get a darker look. It stays for me just fine even though I have oily skin. I even asked my makeup coordinator to use this for my wedding because her professional stuff didn't hold. Bonus that this doesn't have any nasty chemicals in it (PFOS). Please don't discontinue this, smudgyness is a preference and I won't use any other kind of eyeliner!

The eyeliner goes on effortlessly and does not tug the skin. The color is perfect and it’s not too dark or too light. Easy to wash off too. I have used so many other brands but I always return to this eyeliner brand.

Very terrible product

Ok im used to buying L.A. colors because I don't have a lot of money. I decided to really splurge and get the Maybelline define a line which was pretty costly and what I got was worse than the L.A colors honestly. I put it on my lash line and within 20 min it was ran down my face. So I tried it again and the same thing. I trusted that Maybelline was a top of the line makeup and its not. I'm really let down, I cant afford expensive makeup and I'm sad that it was big let down

This is THE WORST eyeliner I have ever used. It goes on easily, but smears everywhere absolutely horribly. So embarrassing how badly it gets everywhere and makes you look like a raccoon. Waste of money, especially for being fairly expensive!

Raccoon at work :(

I wish I would have read reviews before purchasing. Purchased the other day for the first time and was excited to put it on for work... an hour or so later when I noticed my reflection and I looked like a melted raccoon!! I was so embarrassed and the more I tried to remove the worse it got. I had only applied a small line to my upper lid and somehow it got all over my under eye. Even after getting home and using makeup remover I’m having a hard time removing all the smudging. So disappointed and hoping to be refunded. Definitely not using it again.

I bought this because my tarte maneater was running low....and it’s bad. I love the pigment of it but it’s so smudgy upon application I have to constantly look in the mirror just to be sure I’m raccoon free.

I have used 2 or 3 colors for years! Easy to use, smudges easily with the soft tip to soften the look for adult women! Now I cant find 2 of the 3 shades I use! I have now bought several other Maybelline eye liners and none compare and I would return them if I could! Chestnut brown and Brownish Black are the best for women who are not trying to look like they are teens!

I really WANT my eyeliner to smudge a bit. Others cake but this goes on smoothly. I can only use the slate gray, however, which is certainly black enough fo me. I wish Mabelline would make a navy blue! But the smudging softens the look.

Best waterline eyeliner ever

I found the slate gray when I was first exploring makeup and it's been the only staple of my look ever since. It's incredible on my waterline and makes me eyes pop while keeping a no makeup look. The black and blackish brown are both far too dark and visible. If I'm only doing one product, this is the one I always chose. However, I haven't been able to find it in drugs stores or target recently when my stockpile ran out. Has this product been discontinued? I'm glad I can buy it here, but want to know how many I should be buying right now

Worst Maybelline product there is

I bought this for the first time about a week ago and I'm trying to give it the benefit of the doubt, but no matter what I do or which eyelids this is on, it's smudges like nothing I've ever used before. I don't touch my eyes after I do my makeup, there's no reason for it to smudge.

What happened to the Chestnut Brown?!

This is one of my favorite products. I was accustomed to being able to find it in stores and drug stores with no problem. About 8 or 9 months ago - I became unable to find it anywhere. I have found the only way to get my hands on this product has been to find overpriced versions of it via EBay or Amazon. What happened Maybelline? Will you be offering a replacement of this product? Help? This was one of my beauty staples and I have been unable to find anything else comparable.

Very bad product even for such a good brand I mean it's not even worth the money if I wipe it even a little or touch it it comes off and doesn't stay for more than 2 hrs . Please do me a favour and remove this product off the market

I use To wear this eyeliner all the time. I had been using a different brand and decided to go back to the Maybelline because of the cost. I am so disappointed. It smears and doesn’t last. It’s going in the trash. Waste of money.

The chestnut brown was the only color made by any company that worked with reddish blond hair. Bring it back. Smooth to apply and lasted for the day. Easy to remove.

Why do I have to glue the smudge tool back in to keep it from coming out when pulling the lid off? I have scratched my eyelid because I didn’t realize the tool came completely out with the lid!!! I love the eyeliner, but I shouldn’t have to “fix” it each time I buy a new one.

I'm so disappointed!

I love Maybelline products and have been using them for years but I'm so disappointed in this eyeliner. I'm all for an eyeliner that can be easily smudged for a smokey look but this comes off too easily and I constantly have to check my eyes in the mirror to wipe off liner that migrated away from my eye area. By the end of the day it looks like I didn't put any on. Hopefully it can be improved. Until then I'll have to try another liner!

Rich pigment but awful in wear.

The price is great, the pigment is there, but the wear of this eyeliner is awful. When I was younger I felt like this eyeliner was rich and long lasting, bu now it's just a rich black mess within SECONDS! I would understand if it began to transfer to the under eye within a few hours time but it's like once applied its already transferred.

I have been using this eyeliner for years and it is by far my favorite. I have tried other brands and nothing touches this eye liner. I am so so upset that stores no longer sell it and if anyone at Maybelline actually reads this I would love it if you would let me know how I can get my hands on more of this eye liner in slate gray.

Eyeliner used as eye brow pencil

I have red hair and I used the chestnut brown eyeliner as an eyebrow pencil and it works wonderful. Now that you have discontinued it, I'm having a hard time finding a good eye brow pencil to match my hair.

Q: Why are there no shades of eyeliner for blondes? I have used define-a-line chestnut for years but all I find now is black and very dark brown. Not very flattering for a natural daytime look. Would be fine for going out but I need some for office wear.
