    I have used this product for 10 plus years and something changed this year 2026. I just bought a new tube and it does not work the same way. I do not like the mascara that causes your eyelashes to curl. This type of product never worked for me. Its seems as though Maybelline The Colossal has changed ingredients. I will no longer use it.

    Great at keeping lashes curled

    This is the best mascara for mature eye lashes! I have been using it for so many years I can't even remember when I started. My lashes are very straight and if I curl them then apply this mascara they stay curled. I've tried other brands and they apply too much and are very wet, my lashes come down straight and look terrible. Please never stop making it!

    The ONLY mascara I will ever use!

    Like many others, my mom passed the Maybelline mascara gauntlet to me. She started me on the classic pink and green tube and it was my staple until I found this one. It’s PERFECT. The classic, foolproof Maybelline formula but with this curved brush it curls, fans, and separates my eyelashes like nothing else (I tried many other mascaras before accepting that my mom was right). I’ve seen it low in stock or gone from some stores and I will be DEVASTATED if it gets discontinued forever. PLEASE TRY IT AND PLEASE MAYBELLINE KEEP MAKING IT!!!

    I just stopped having lash extensions. The brush for this mascara is terribly thin and I am having difficulty applying mascara. The worst mascara I have used.

    Formula change??

    Did the formula change? I’ve been using this mascara for years because it makes my eyelashes stay curled, but I just got a new one and my eye lashes are falling down as if it were not waterproof? Very confused and so so sad

    Learn from my gullibility and save your $$...I actually forgot about this my first love until I saw a YouTuber saying how her and her sister ALWAYS resort back to this ol’ Faithful. So now I got all this other expensive duds that I can’t throw away (they’re full).. I did recently find another winner that I will use along with this as it just works. The very inexpensive one from Essence, I believe Princess something. Great and looks like falsies and even better after applying my @maybelline Colossal Mascara (I prefer waterproof)

    Long lashes but eye irritating formula

    The mascara made my lashes long and I liked the applicator. However, once applied, the texture was gummy/sticky. I splashed my face once with warm water and it smudged. It also really irritated my eyes and made them red/itchy the next day.

    Nightmare to remove!!!

    Regardless of price or looks or function at the end of my day when I tried to remove the mascara it did NOT want to come off! I rubbed them raw practically with hot water and soap it just caused lots of pain it's like SUPER GLUE! Finally reading a review on here I used coconut oil, it removed most of it but by this point my eyes were way to sore to continue...I will never use this product again! WaterPROOF should NOT mean IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE! period. And sadly I did like the effect it had for the look of my lashes but the pain and aggravation alone has cancelled all that out!

    Waste of money

    When I first untwisted it the wand was extremely bent out of shape - I had significant trouble getting it out of the tube. I had to reshape it into a normal shape with my fingers. The bristles were short and bent and ugly. I still tried to put it on. It was horrible and I am extremely unimpressed and disappointed

    It got dry so fast!

    At the beginning it was amazing mascara but couple weeks later, it got really dry and clumpsy. It last with me for only 3 months!!! (taking into account I don't use makeup daily / around 3 times per week) Additionally, couple hours after I applied I could see some falling out around my under eyes. I looked like a racoon!!! And it supposed it's waterproof mascara.

    I have been using this mascara for about 5 years now since swapping over from a competitor who discontinued the mascara I had been using since my twenties! Glad I found Cat Eyes, it took me a while to find the perfect substitute for what I was using but this one ticks all the boxes it's actually slightly better than what I was using because it's easier to remove! For the ladies that find it hard to remove please use coconut oil it takes it all off, leaves the skin moisturised and doesn't pull out the lashes & it smells pretty good too! xx

    Very disappointed I really thought it would give my lashes more volume. Nope. I used it a couple of times hoping when I took out brush it would have creamy cream but instead it would be dry. I don't recommend this particular mascara.

    Nice mascara but...

    I have been using this mascara for about a 1.5-2 years at this point. I am not able to wear a lot of mascara as it causes my eyes to itch. This one does not. I like the consistency of the mascara and the curved brush. I don't have to curl my lashes as the brush does it for me. My issue is, the brush separates from the cap all the time. The first time it happened I thought I it was just a fluke and super glued the brush back into the cap. But, almost every time I purchase this mascara it happens. The only reason I continue to purchase this product is because I like the mascara. I've come to accept the fact after about 3-4 days of using it, I will have to super glue the brush back into the lid. Does anyone else have this problem?

    Long lashes that last all day!

    This is the BEST mascara for those of us who have shorter pin straight lashes. #1 rule: CURL 1ST, THEN ALWAYS USE WATERPROOF!! There areally a few other Maybelline waterproof mascaras that I've tried, but this is seriously the best. When I'm short on time 1 coat will suffice... but I get the best results with 2 coats. I apply the 2nd coat before the 1st one dries, or I end up with clumps. If you do end up with little clumps or lashes stuck together, just use a round toothpick to separate. I find that using a comb removes too much product. :) :)

    I have been using this mascara for over 5 YEARS. It is the ONLY mascara that actually keeps my curl. It doesn't transfer or flake-- and lasts for over 12 hours at a Florida Disney Park. There is not one thing bad to say about this. Price point is perfect! A picture is worth a thousand words!

    This is the best mascara on the planet for all you ladies that have to deal with the difficulties of having dead straight lashes!!!! THIS IS MY 1 AND ONLY HOLY GRAIL <3 Once I curl my lashes and put on THIS mascara I'm ready to go and it lasts all day!!! I've spent hundreds of dollars on high/low end mascara brands and this is the only formula/wand combo that has ever worked for me! I don't know what I'd do without this mascara, it's a shame it's not as available in stores anymore....     Favorite drugstore mascara!

    This is my favorite drugstore mascara and it works better than most high end mascaras Ive tried! It doesn't smudge throughout the day and it is build able, some days I want more natural lashes and other days I want them to look like Im wearing falsies, and this mascara carries me through every day. Im about to buy my 3rd tube which I hardly ever re-buy a product unless I fall in love with it, and I have with this mascara! Worth every penny!

    I have been using this mascara for the last several years and since I can only use waterproof mascara, this is the best one ever after trying several kinds. It makes my eyelashes very long without being clumpy.     Horrible to take off

    I bought this mascara about 2 months ago and I gave it a chance everyday, and it came on nicely. When I went to take it off, it would not come off and would end up ripping off my eyelashes.

    I used to use another waterproof mascara until it was discontinued and I searched and searched for something that would work for me and I finally found it in this. I LOVE this mascara and hope Maybelline never discontinues it. It never lets me down. Makes my lashes look thick, beautiful and never flakes or clumps. It lasts all day until I take it off and it's truly waterproof. Best of all, it doesn't break my lashes when I remove it. I've never had a problem with the wand breaking like others are suggesting. I won't buy another mascara, ever.

    I have tiny Asian lashes that are super short and stick straight. This mascara is the best I have tried! It holds a curl (I use a curler first), lengthens and defines my lashes, and doesn't get too clumpy. Have and will continue to repurchase.

    I have fairly long lashes and find waterproof mascara to hold the curl more. I found this product about 3 years ago and always seem to come back to it if I wander off to try a new product. only thing to improve is the brush falls off the "handle".

    Amazing Length Mascara not so much for Volume

    I have been using this mascara for about 4 years and I absolutely love it! Doesn't apply much mascara to my lashes which I like but gives great length to my small lashes. If you want volume this is not your mascara, check the rocket mascara! :)

    The best mascara brush is one that is stiff, so as to hold the lashes in place to curl and lengthen them upward while applying the mascara. This definitely does that; however, within a couple of hours my eyelashes fall flat. Back to the volume.

    It seems that only Maybelline understands what waterproof means. I love the curve of the Colossal Cat Eyes brush. BUT: I'm a blonde and this only comes in black and looks weird on my eyebrows. PLEASE. make this in darkish brown!!

    I absolutely love this mascara! I have short eyelashes and these definitely add length and curl! I use it only when I wear my contacts (I use glasses) so I don't waste it all because when I wear my contacts my eyelashes pop out more.

    This is the only drugstore mascara that has worked really well for me. Only downfall would be that it hurts like a mother trying to get it off, but I don't use makeup remover so that's prob why. Doesn't clump and separates and curls my lashes!
