Bronzer makeup is like a real-life beautifying filter. Tinted pressed powder gives skin an instant day at the beach, healthy glow. It also evens out skin tone, adds a bit of facial dimension and makes eyes and teeth seem brighter and whiter. If you want to look good, fast, reach for bronzer—like a day spent relaxing in the sun, bronzer transforms for the better.
A beginners guide to applying bronzer couldn't be simpler: Whisk your makeup brush across the bronzer 2-3 times, then tap excess color off on the back of your hand. Sweep color on cheeks, across the bridge of your nose and lightly on your forehead—exactly where you catch your color in the sun. If you apply too much, don't panic, just lightly go over the area with a clean, dry cotton pad to pick up some of the color.
Bronzer makeup brushes are different from blush or powder brushes—they're thinner, to ensure you don't overdose on the good stuff at first swipe.
When choosing your bronzer makeup shade, consider your skin tone. Opt for a color two to four shades darker than your skin tone—light skin will show any mistakes or streaks easily. Therefore, those with light complexions should stick with light, sheer, shimmer-free shades like City Bronzer in 'Light'. Those with medium to deep complexions can get more daring, opt for bolder bronzes, and play with shimmer. But in general, bronzer isn't meant to be a "look"— it's best when you don't notice it at all, and it just looks like your skin.

Feel free to apply over foundation or onto bare skin—though makeup artists recommend lightly dusting the face with face powder before, to give bronzer a smooth, even surface to cling onto.
