Create a Cut Crease Eyeshadow Look in 4 easy Steps

FOR BAMBI-HUGE EYES

SO...WHAT EXACTLY IS CUT CREASE?

Cut crease eyeshadow is a very technical term for a really cool look. Equal parts optical illusion and beauty trend, it's when a lighter shade of eyeshadow cuts across the crease of the eyelid, creating a dramatic contrast that makes eyes look Bambi-huge and defined. Want in on it? Grab your go-to neutral eyeshadow palette and favorite concealer and follow along with us!
  1. DEFINE THE CREASE

Dust lids with a neutral shadow that closely matches your skin tone, then sweep a dark brown eyeshadow just above the crease of the eye, close to the brow bone. TIP: Make this look last all night by starting with a makeup primer.

  2. CONTRAST WITH CONCEALER

Next, apply a light concealer across the lid to clean up the edges of the brown eyeshadow and provide a guide for the cut crease. Use an angled brush to sweep concealer outward and across toward the tail of the eyebrow.

  3. CREATE THE "CUT"

Layer a cream or white shadow over where you've applied your concealer, to really amp up the contrast. This step creates that dramatic "cut crease" effect.

  4. ADD EYELINER

To finish up your cut crease eye, grab your favorite eyeliner. Carefully drag across your lash line and angle upwards to create the perfect cat eye.
