WITH MAKEUP ARTIST JESSICA SMALLS
Ever find yourself wondering how to do eyeshadow? You don't want your eye makeup look to appear too "natural," but you don't want it to look "nighttime" either. Where's the balance? Is there something you're missing on how to apply eyeshadow? Not anymore. Enter soft glam eyeshadow. It's all about using plummy, pinky eyeshadow complemented by a clean swipe of black eyeliner. Great for beginners, this soft glam look is full-on feminine and fierce, but subtle enough to pull off during the daytime. Think everyday natural and pretty, but with a bit of extra oomph. Makeup artist Jessica Smalls shows us how to get the look!

APPLY SHADOW WITH JESSICA

Watch Jessica Smalls create a soft glam eyeshadow look that's perfect for beginners.
  1. HOW TO APPLY EYESHADOW FOR BEGINNERS Step 1: Prime Eyes with Concealer

Dab two dots of concealer on each lid and blend in with a makeup sponge to create the perfect eyeshadow canvas. This allows color to really pop and stay all day. You want it to feel a bit tacky!

Using a fluffy eyeshadow brush, apply a warm, neutral-toned eyeshadow shade and blend into the eye crease only. Jessica uses Globetrotter from the Nudes of New York Eyeshadow Palette.

Now apply a deeper shade of eyeshadow just on the outer corners of eyes and on the lower lash line for a "wrapped" effect. Blend in well. Jessica uses Voyager from the Nudes of New York Eyeshadow Palette.

Add shine and make the eye pop using a bright, shimmery eyeshadow shade right in the center of the eyelids only, using a fluffy brush. Jessica uses the shade Fighter.

  5. HOW TO APPLY EYESHADOW FOR BEGINNERS Step 5: Finish Eyes with Liner & Mascara

Apply a gel pencil eyeliner in black right along the lower lash waterline and smudge slightly. Do the same with the top lash line. Finish with 2-3 coats of mascara, teasing the mascara right at the base for a full, fluffy effect.
