I also used this mascara for a decade or more and LOVED it. Now it is terrible. Clumps etc. Never used to clump. Now it's no different than all teh other mascaras which are terrible

The reformulation isn't the best, but most importantly, I need this mascara in BROWN. The black is too harsh for when I just want to look awake and put-together.

This was hands down the best mascara I had ever used. No flaking, smearing or irritation. When Maybelline discontinued this mascara in Brown, I had to start looking for a similar mascara. I'm still looking. Every other Maybelline mascara, and other brands as well, flake miserably.

Beyond disappointed with the reformulation !

I’ve been using this mascara for years and it has been the best brush and formula. They reformulated it and my latest tube has dried out, clumped, and performed so poorly on my lashes after only a week of use. I am SO disappointed!!!! I’d rather pay more for the original formula than have to go back to the drawing board of finding a new mascara! Must everything fall victim to shrinkflation and reforumlation!!? I won’t be repurchasing.

I am picky about the brush I use. I put one coat on my lashes and then wait a couple of minutes before putting another coat on. I find this helps with any mascara. Right now this my favorite mascara.

One of the best mascaras

I've been using this Maybelline Full & Soft mascara for over 20 years, and it’s been a staple in my makeup routine. It always defined my lashes beautifully, makes them naturally long, never thick or clumpy, and left them feeling soft and natural. I regularly get compliments on my lashes, and I’ve always credited this mascara. The brush is one of the best out there, it’s easy to use and gives great control during application.
That said, I’ve been a bit disappointed lately. The formula seems drier than it used to be, and it doesn’t apply as smoothly or last as long. I’m not sure if something changed, but it’s not quite the same product I’ve loved for so many years. I really hope Maybelline brings back the original formula or addresses this, because it’s been one of the best mascaras I’ve ever used. I really hope this is just a temporary issue, because I’d love to keep using this mascara for many more years to come.x

I’ve been using this for about 20 years and it is still the best! No matter what else I try, I always come back to full-n-soft. It doesn’t damage my eyelashes, and it makes them look natural, and feel natural. I hope they don’t discontinue it.

BRING BACK BROWN!!! PLEASE!!! I have used this for years! Even if I tried a new mascara I always went back to this. I get a lot of compliments and people asking what kind of mascara I use. I have very sensitive eyes and don't like waterproof mascara. This is exactly what it says - FULL AND SOFT. I am just begging for them to bring back the brown color, I am blonde and it just gives a softer look. Just do it Maybelline! Brownish Black! Brownish Black!

I used this mascara for almost 25 years. It was my absolute favorite! I stopped purchasing it when the only color option available was black. I’ve looked for other mascaras that provided the same or similar results in the color that I need. I don’t understand why you had to ruin a good thing. Guess I’ll continue my search.

Maybelline, what is going on with this formula now? I’ve loved this mascara for over a decade but have recently noticed that new tubes dry out quickly (after a week or two) and the formula now clumps and flakes. I’ve always loved this mascara for how soft and clump/flake free it was…Please look into this — a quick search shows I’m not the only one noticing this change for the worse.

Please Bring Old Formula Back!!

Used this for literally decades. Was the absolute best Mascara of all brands. The brush is unparalleled. However, after my recent purchase I noticed a horrible smell and it started clumping and flaking. Thinking I bought an old one.. I bought another. The same thing. Just searched the web for other complaints and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. Maybeline - please don't short cut this product. I promise you'll lose more than you'll save. Please conduct a formula check because something is very off. Now I have 4 packs that I've wasted money on and won't use. Please resolve this for your customers.

Why oh why would you discontinue this. None of your other mascaras have the same brush, consistency or go on with such ease. I was really disappointed to find out you discontinued the brownish black that is best for blondes and now us older women. I have used this product for years. Such a huge disappointment and again since your other products and brush do not compare, I will have to search elsewhere.

I love this mascara, used it for years! But we need the brownish black back.. I’m early 40’s and we need a shade not as harsh as black. Listen to your customers! New Horrible strong smell

Super disappointed. I have worn this formula for at least 17 years of not longer. I have purchased 3 tubes in the last few days thinking that it was out of date. The smell is so strong that I can’t stand to put it one and I’ve started having irritation and redness on the corners of my eye. I finally researched and see they have changed the formula. They have lost a customer. I just ordered another brand and will throw these all away as I have a sample of something else I can use until the new arrives. I change tubes every 3 months like clockwork. Goodbye Maybelline.

Heartbroken: Time to find a new mascara

I’ve used expensive mascara too but none could beat Full and Soft. It was my “go to”. Now my last two tubes (over 9 mos.) have been sticky, clumpy, and dry. My eyelashes stick together and have fallen out. Never happened before. After 20 years I’m not using it again. Disappointed.

I recently decided to switch to the DARK BROWN only to discover that the whole line has been discontinued. WHY DISCONTINUE SUCH A POPULAR PRODUCT??? Maybelline's other mascara offerings just don't work for me. BRING BACK THE FULL'n'SOFT LINE -- ESPECIALLY IN DARK BROWN -- OR YOU HAVE LOST ANOTHER FAITHFUL CUSTOMER.

Maybelline Full & Soft has been my go to mascara for 10+ years! It doesn’t run, flake or leave any residue after you was it off but for the last 6-9 month every tube I have bought seems to have a smell to it that it never had before and has dried out way faster than it has ever before. I absolutely love this mascara but wish they would bring back the old formula.

This used to be amazing but it is now terrible

I have used this mascara religiously for close to 30 years and have loved it. I have always gotten so many compliments on my eyelashes and I love how long and soft it makes them look. But over the past several months I've noticed a significant difference in the formula and I am certain they must have made a change to the product. There is a bad smell that was never there before and even when you first open the tube it is dry and gloopy. My eyelashes clump like they never have before and the product flakes, which has never happened either. After just a few weeks, the product is so dry it's almost unusable where it used to last a couple months at least. At first I thought i just had an old or bad tube but I have repurchased it with the same results at least 4 times now. I am so disappointed because any time I've tried other mascaras in the past I never like them as much and always go back to this one but I don't think I'm going to be able to keep using it much longer if it continues like this.

Horrible Rubbery and Need a Replacement Product

Ive bought this since 2003 religiously i absolutely hate all of your other mascaras but this one. I have contacts and this is perfect for them. The other mascaras are old and clumpy. I will not buy anything but that. Why cant you discontinue great lash thats the absolute worst one.

We love full n soft brown!

Please bring back the brown! This mascara needs a full color range in regular and waterproof. The formula is fantastic, please do not change it! It is the only mascara I like. Update the packaging if low sales are an issue but for me and it seems like many others in the comments, this is a staple and needs to stick around. I’ll buy one every 2 months.

Full 'N Soft is the best Mascara I have ever used

This is more a plea than a review. Please bring back the Brownish Black color. I am a fair-skinned redhead, and a softer black looks much better on me. I have used Maybelline mascara's for more than 50 years. The Full 'N Soft Brownish Black is my all-time favorite.

Q: Why did you change the formula of Full&Soft?? I recently got a tube that I noticed was goopy and smelled bad, like old makeup. I thought maybe it was just a bad tube, until I went online and saw others say the same. Why mess with a good thing??

Q: I am avoiding all salycilates. Please explain what type of Acetate is used in this product? for example, Polyvinyl Acetate is salycilate-free. But Retinol Acetate is apparently used for moisturizing in mascara products. It has been linked to cancer.
